Compensation For Paralysis
If you have been injured in the last three years, and it wasn’t your fault, you may be able to claim compensation. The amount you are able to claim depends on the type and severity of your injury. Personal Injury Claims Aberdeen can help you get the compensation you are entitled to. Our compensation guide outlines the levels of compensation for some of the most common types of injury.
Paralysis Personal Injury Claims
At the extreme end of the scale of types of personal injury are injuries involving paralysis. Clearly these injuries involve a great deal of pain as well as mental stress and anguish, not to mention a great loss of quality of life.
The law recognises this and compensation for injuries involving total or partial paralysis are among the highest awarded.
Compensation for Quadriplegia
£201,500 – £265,000
In making an award of compensation for quadriplegia, the court will take into account: the extent of residual movement (of the limbs etc); the existence of ongoing pain; depression and mental injury; the injured person’s age and their future life expectancy.
If there as an effect on the senses and the ability to communicate, the award will be near the top end of the above bracket.
Compensation for Paraplegia
£144,000 – £186,500
The court will take into account the same factors as above, but also the degree of independence the injured person retains. If there is a risk that the paralysis may increase, then an award of over £186,500 might be considered appropriate.
